Science Lessons!

Here, you will find 10 lesson plans that cover all different kinds of topics. Enjoy!

Grow a Plant - For this lesson, children will learn about different types of plants, as well as how to care for and look after them. To begin, students are introduced to the different types of plants and the idea that different plants bloom during each season. During the lesson, the students will be planting their own seeds and learning the appropriate process to planting. To wrap up, students will be taking the plants home after being told how to care for them on a regular basis.

DNA - what's that? - Even at a young age, children can learn about the "blueprint for various forms of life" also known as DNA. This lesson will give a basic overview of what DNA is and how even a banana has DNA. After completing the activity of extracting DNA from a banana, students will have the chance to look at it under a microscope - how cool!

Snail Race! - This lesson on snails will give children a chance to explore the characteristics of these slow creatures. After looking at them through magnifying glasses and labeling their different body parts, they will determine how to plan a snail race. Once all discussion and planning is completed, students can host a friendly snail race in the classroom !

Sink or Float? - This easy and low-cost lesson on items that sink and float will definitely keep your child's attention! The step-by-step lesson format with pictures walks parents and children through filling Easter eggs with various objects such as Legos, marbles, a paperclip, etc. Fill a tub with water, find some random objects, and enjoy watching your child explore items that sink and float.

The Magic Ketchup Experiment! - Did you know that you can make a packet of ketchup sink and float at your command? Check this lesson out to see how it's possible. With just three simple items (a 1 liter plastic bottle, ketchup packets from a fast food restaurant, and salt), you can show your child more properties of sinking and floating. This particular lesson does a great job at explaining how it works, as well as gives a section on how to further the experiment.

Make Your Own Rock Candy - Who doesn't love a good piece of rock candy, and wouldn't it be awesome to make your own all while teaching a mini lesson on saturation? Well, you're in luck! This easy to follow lesson on how to make rock candy and how it works is sure to catch your child's attention and keep them engaged until they get to the taste-testing part of the lesson!

Slime - COOL! - This super easy lesson on creating an ooey gooey slime is made even easier with the option to watch the steps through a video. Doesn't get much better than that! With a basic lesson on polymers, students get to create their own substance and learn all about how it is made possible. Plus, it's lots of fun to play with and incredibly easy to create! Chicken Sounds from a CUP! - Yes, you read that title correctly: chicken sounds from a CUP! Give your child a lesson on sound vibrations all while creating a hilarious and cheap form of entertainment. Elaborate the lesson by having them try a variety of items and see which invention makes the best chicken sound!

Make Plastic Milk - This lesson involves children in the process of making a substance called Casein. When the protein in the milk meets the acid in the vinegar, Casein is formed! The lesson format tells students how the experiment works and gives ideas on how to further the experimenting process.

Exploading Lunchbags! - Want to give your child a mini lesson on chemistry? Well, you've come to the right place!
